The application process for our annual Rise STEM Scholarship is now closed, and we’ve chosen this year’s round of winners.
We decided to hold an annual scholarship to support hard-working students in achieving their ambitious goals for a better career and future. Through the Rise STEM Scholarship, the winning student receives $1,000 toward his or her degree. We also award $250 book scholarships to each of the two runners-up.
We were blown away by receiving a total of 1,304 applicants this year. Many of these applicants provided inspiring stories about themselves and their future goals, but there were a few that stood out.
Without further ado, we present you our 2020 winners.
The Winner
Vishesh Pagarani
Vishesh is an Information Systems student at Carnegie Mellon University with a minor in Architecture and Human-Computer Interaction. Vishesh aims to captivate people with professional storytelling and to start an institution dedicated by teaching at the intersection of technology and design. Vishesh is looking towards technology and Information Systems, and the endless possibilities created by the digital era.
Runners-Up
Mark Rifkin
Mark is an Environmental Science and Policy student at Johns Hopkins University and plans to directly facilitate understanding and application of sustainable diets and food systems at an advocacy organization.
Danielle Muriel
Danielle is a Biology student at the University of Virginia. She plans to devote full-time focus, commitment and motivation to complete her goal of becoming a doctor.
