The application process for our first year of the Rise STEM Scholarship is now closed, and we’ve chosen our first round of winners.
We decided to hold an annual scholarship to support hard-working students in achieving their ambitious goals for a better career and future. Through the Rise STEM Scholarship, the winning student receives $1,000 toward his or her degree. We also award $250 book scholarships to each of the two runners-up.
We were blown away by receiving a total of 577 applicants this year. Many of these applicants provided inspiring stories about themselves and their future goals, but there were a few that stood out.
Without further ado, we present you our 2019 winners.
The Winner
Justin Nemec
Justin is a Chemistry, Pre-Medicine student attending the University of Pittsburgh. He’s extremely hard-working and will stop at nothing to achieve his dream of becoming an anesthesiologist. Long-term, Justin also plans to give back to students that are financially burdened but are working hard to attain their own dreams.
Runners-Up
Amanda Clarke
Amanda is a Civil Engineering student attending Arizona State University with a minor in Sustainability. She will also be pursuing her master’s degree in Sustainable Engineering after graduation. Amanda plans to develop more environmentally-friendly construction materials and practices that can provide sustainable shelter to more people.
Oliver Jensen
Oliver is a Civil Engineering student attending Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a focus on sustainable energy and renewable resources. Upon graduation, he would like to attend graduate school in Denmark; home to some of the best renewable energy programs in the world. He plans to contribute to a more sustainable generation.

Although our 2019 scholarship program has been concluded, the Rise STEM Scholarship is held annually. We encourage all students to apply for 2020 here.
